Surface hardening in video

Laser hardening of a drive gear

During laser hardening of this drive wheel (Ø 510 mm, 83 teeth, 42CrMo4), the tooth geometry is specifically hardened to 56 HRC by means of precise surface hardening.

You can also find the video on our YouTube channel.

Why laser hardening:

  • Precise adjustment: Thanks to our zoom optics, the laser track width can be perfectly adjusted to the flank heights of a tooth.
  • Efficiency & environmental friendliness: With a laser track speed of 4 mm per second, we achieve a high surface hardness while the material core remains tough.
  • Low distortion & energy-saving: No quenching media required, minimal distortion and significant time savings.
