Laser hardening of the tooth flanks of gear rim segments

For TAKRAF, a leading supplier of mining technology, we are currently hardening the tooth flanks of a total of 16 segments – components that will later be assembled into gearwheels with a diameter of 9 meters. These are used in the slewing gears of large bucket wheel excavators in mining.

Laser hardening with scan optics:

• Harden the entire tooth flank with just one track
• No tempering effect during laser hardening
• Extremely hard, wear-resistant surface with a tough component core
• Minimal distortion and therefore hardly any reworking
• 55 HRC hardness at 1 mm hardness depth
• High reproducibility thanks to macro-supported robot programming
